Identify people who are no longer your friend. This may include people who used to share many common interests with you (watching wrestling, writing emails, drinking, debuting, etc.), but now they are more into different stuff (studying, painting, cutting down trees, babies etc).

Build a bridge that symbolizes the good days of your friendship. If you have know them for a long time the bridge could be quite large. Use things like glue, popsicle sticks, branches, whatever is handy. Generally the more flammable the components are the better.

Personalize the bridge specifically for the person you wish to cut ties with. Be sure to include personal items like photos of their pets or loved ones (wedding pictures work great).

Assemble a fire pit. This can be of any size but should be at least twice as big as the bridge you intend to burn. The pit should represent the anger you now have towards this person and the friendship that has gone down the tubes. The better friends you were with this person the bigger and more raging the fire should be.

Once the fire is lit, suspend the bridge you have made a few feet above it.
Immediately call the person you have constructed the bridge for, and let them know the clock is ticking. Explain to them what you have done and let them know why. Go into great detail about why they are no longer your friend, use specific documentation whenever possible. This is an important part of the healing process. Continue adding wood and/or oil to the fire so the flames rise towards the hanging bridge. If the person is not there to answer the phone be sure to leave a detailed message.

Once the bridge is engulfed in flames immediately hang up on the person if you are speaking with them. They are now dead to you and you will never have to speak to them again.

Finally release joyous laughter as you have simplified your life by trimming the fat of an unwanted friend.
